artists who recently joined the Island Arts Gallery family at the end of 2021:
Elizabeth Borey – Gindi
Girl Ceramic Pendants. Lizzie brings a wonderful selection of handmade original
ceramic pendants available in the gallery.
Dale Ruska – Goenpul Woodworks Dale’s wood turned bowls and
boxes are expertly crafted from locally sourced native and introduced timbers
including Grass Tree (Xanthorrhoea
johnsonii), Island Cypress (Callitris
columellaris), Red Cedar (Toona
ciliata), and Camphor laurel (Cinnamomum
camphora).
Angie Simms and Stuart Quinn – Eat, Drink and Be Straddie
Cookbook. Brought to life in rich and vivid detail through the award-winning
lens of North Stradbroke Island creatives Angie Simms and Stuart Quinn, Eat,
Drink and Be Straddie is an adventure and a recipe book all rolled into one.
Coming in at 200 pages, the
full-colour tome boasts more than 100 recipes focused on the freshest island
ingredients and ideas, as well as feature stories on Straddie producers, an
island timeline and much, much more.
Neale
Carlile – Neale creates gorgeous wall art from driftwood,
pumice and other natural materials in the forms of sea creatures. His work is
captivating and unique.
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Traditional
Custodians of this beautiful island of Minjerribah/Terangerri (North Stradbroke Island), the Quandamooka people,
their Elders past and present and upcoming, and their continual connection to
land, waters and community.
